Sheikh Rifan Ahmed was born in Khulna in 1982. Although his father’s homeland is Brahmanbaria, he spent his childhood in Khulna. He started studying at Fatema High School, completed SSC from Khulna Zilla School and completed graduation from Azam Khan Govt. Commerce College. He started writing for various periodicals during his student life, but entered professional life in 1998. He worked with fame in Khulna’s then widely circulated daily ‘Prabartan’ published by renowned journalist Syed Shafi, then in Daily Janmavumi, Daily Purbanchal and Daily Probaha. In 2003, he moved to Dhaka with the help of Daily Probaha Editor Khan Ashraful Islam and News Editor late Abdullah Al Mamun, and started working in a newspaper Daily Sangbadpatra. After that, he worked with fame in various first-tier newspapers including Daily News Line, Ajkaler Khabar, Amader Somoy, Prothom Alo, Jugantor, Samakal, Bangladesher Khabar, Khola Kagoj. In 2014, he started editing a weekly magazine called Notun Karmakhetro as an Editor. In the same year, he started editing the daily Manabkhabar as an Editor with the approval of the Dhaka District Commissioner, which gained popularity among readers in a short time. Later, after the ownership of the two newspapers was transferred, he got involved in various humanitarian and social activities. Sheikh Rifan Ahmed, the managing director of Dreams Touch and Nisarga Cottage, is currently working to provide future protection and security to grassroots journalists. In the service of art and humanity, he has already established an e-commerce business called Nagorik Mart, the entire profits of which are spent on the welfare of helpless journalists. He is also the founder of a human rights organization called Shelter and Rehabilitation Foundation.Sheikh Rifan Ahmed married Afroza Siddiqua, the granddaughter of Khan Bahadur Shahudul Haque, a resident of Brahmanbaria, and the daughter of expatriate Zubair Azfar, in 2010. They have a daughter named Rahnuma Ahmed.After a short break, Sheikh Rifan Ahmed returned to journalism in early 2020. Daily Nagorik Bhabna started its journey under the guidance of Afroza Siddique as Editor and Publisher, while the daily ‘Bijoy Bangladesh’ started its journey under the publication of SM Ershadullah Chowdhury, the head of the Tepantar Group, and Sheikh Rifan Ahmed’s editing.Finally, on February 23, 2022, Sheikh Rifan Ahmed took over as the Acting Editor of the National Daily ‘The Nagorik Bhabna’.
